Here's something you may not know... We use messaging apps way more than we use social networks.

Here's a stat for you: there are 5 billion using messaging apps a month. Facebook specifically have a 1.3 billion audience reach a month within Messenger alone.

They also claim:

  1. Two billion messages are sent between people and businesses each month

  2. 53% of people are more likely to shop with a business they can message directly

  3. 56% of people would rather message than call customer service

So the question is...

That's all well and good that there's a lot of people on Messenger but what else can it do for me and my business?

Let me give you a few reasons why its a good time and marketing channel to get into.

Messenger has some of the highest engagement of any app at the moment with 80%+ Open Rates and 40% + Click Through Rates are the standard metrics these days.

There's no competition with the ever decline of organic reach of Social Media posts with Facebook getting businesses to pay for reach now - Messenger is FREE for now....

Think about it though - when you see that little red notification pop up you feel compelled to open it up.
The main reason is because we are so used to being messaged by our friends and family on Messenger that we are not used to brands necessarily messaging us. It's still a personal way to have a conversation.

On the other hand, Facebook Messenger boasts open rates of 70-80 percent within the first hour.


Reason 2: There are so many ways you can market to your audience and grow your business

So we now know that Messenger chatbots are popular and have high engagement but how can they help your business grow?

They essentially work a little bit like email - you collect subscribers, send out campaigns, tag people, message automation and so on - just without the extremely high aforementioned engagement rates.

When going to message a business on Facebook and you've hit 'Get Started' there's a good chance that business has a chatbot installed and has now made you a subscriber.
